{"id":51052,"date":"2016-01-10T22:28:28","date_gmt":"2016-01-10T20:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/?p=51052"},"modified":"2016-01-10T22:28:28","modified_gmt":"2016-01-10T20:28:28","slug":"the-freedom-jatha-tours-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/2016\/01\/the-freedom-jatha-tours-india\/","title":{"rendered":"The Freedom Jatha tours India!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our joint production with Jana Natya Manch, <em>Hamesha Samida<\/em>\u00a0(Forever Steadfast) is the highlight of the <a href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/news\/for-palestine-freedom-jatha\/\">Freedom Jatha<\/a> project and is now in the midst of a tour that will be visiting eleven\u00a0cities in India and\u00a0performing over 30 times. This play &#8211; which has come out of an intense process that is the first theatrical collaboration between India and Palestine &#8211; has already\u00a0sparked many conversations about theatre and resistance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Freedom Jatha adventure began in October 2015 when The Freedom Theatre&#8217;s team arrived in India for an\u00a0intensive, diverse program of\u00a0workshops with Indian theatre practitioners, interactions with Indian students, artists and activists, field visits and rehearsals. Since\u00a0December 18 the team has been touring India, performing and interacting with diverse audiences. The encounters thus far have been full of wonderful conversations, careful listening and many insightful questions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Jhandapur,\u00a0<em>Hamesha Samida<\/em>\u00a0was performed as part of the annual memorial of Jana Natya Manch co-founder\u00a0Safdar Hashmi on January 1st.\u00a0Hashmi was killed in\u00a01989 in Shahibabad while on stage\u00a0with Jana Natya Manch. 27 years later, The Freedom Theatre was honoured to be\u00a0able to perform in Safdar Hashmi&#8217;s memory, together with his comrades from Jana Natya Manch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Mumbai, the Freedom Jatha team performed at four different locations, including one performance in front of an audience of some 2500 people. Now the Freedom Jatha has moved on to Kerala.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are incredibly touched by the love, support, solidarity we are receiving everywhere. So many friends have worked so hard to make each stop on the tour so special for the Freedom Jatha\u00a0team. To them and to everyone we have met so far, we are grateful beyond words!
