{"id":51241,"date":"2016-02-23T09:52:26","date_gmt":"2016-02-23T07:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/?p=51241"},"modified":"2016-02-23T09:52:26","modified_gmt":"2016-02-23T07:52:26","slug":"maybe-screened-at-durango-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/2016\/02\/maybe-screened-at-durango-film-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Maybe&#8217; screened at Durango Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are proud to announce that <em>Maybe<\/em> by Suzan Wasfi, a short film made as part of our Freedom Films project, will be screened at Durango Film Festival, USA, in March!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Maybe<\/em>\u00a0is a semi-autobiographical documentary which follows the trials of the only female horse trainer in Jenin, drawing parallels with Suzan Wasfi\u2019s own situation as a female director working in a society where gender roles are sharply defined.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis woman is courageous, brave enough to ride a horse. This is not a normal situation in our society in terms of customs and traditions. Society has to know that this is her right and that she is free to do what she wants\u201d, says Wasfi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This film project is Suzan Wasfi\u2019s fourth film and her first documentary.
