Please note that it is necessary to pre-book tickets to all performances during the Anniversary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Siege<\/em> was originally\u00a0performed in spring 2015 in the West Bank as well as\u00a0in the UK, receiving exceptional reviews. The<i>\u00a0<\/i><span class=\"s1\">six-week UK tour<\/span>\u00a0included twenty performances across Britain.<span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span>&#8220;One would struggle to find a more authentic piece of theatre, or indeed one that speaks to such a brutally urgent case of injustice\u201d stated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepublicreviews.com\/the-siege-battersea-arts-centre-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.thepublicreviews.com\/the-siege-battersea-arts-centre-london\/\" rel=\"noopener\">The Public Reviews<\/a>, while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/stage\/2015\/may\/21\/the-siege-battersea-arts-theatre-review-bethlehem-church-of-the-nativity\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/stage\/2015\/may\/21\/the-siege-battersea-arts-theatre-review-bethlehem-church-of-the-nativity\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian<\/a> wrote: &#8220;It develops into an unexpectedly compelling theatrical experience with a rough and ready energy, and, in the very act of its telling, speaks for the voiceless and forgotten.\u201d Read more praise for The Siege <a href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/productions-productions\/the-siege\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/productions-productions\/the-siege\/\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The play is an artistic reflection on\u00a0the Israeli army\u2019s 39-day siege of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem during the height of the second Intifada in 2002. While the dramatic scenes of the 2002 siege made headlines worldwide, the fighters, clergy and civilians trapped inside the church were not heard. With\u00a0<em>The Siege,\u00a0<\/em>The Freedom Theatre\u00a0tells the story from the perspective of some of the people who lived through those fateful 39 days. <a href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/productions-productions\/the-siege\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/productions-productions\/the-siege\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more about the play.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe chose to portray the siege of the Church of the Nativity because it was such an important event in Palestinian society\u201d, says Nabil Al-Raee, artistic director of The Freedom Theatre and co-creator of\u00a0<em>The Siege<\/em>. \u201cIt is still important for a lot of people, especially for the fighters who were exiled indefinitely, and for their families.
