Wanting to know more about his people and identity, he finds out that reality is very different from what he has seen in the news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Return to Palestine<\/em> is directed by Micaela Miranda and devised together with the ensemble of the third-year students of <a href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/what-we-do\/theatre\/theatre-school\/\">The Freedom Theatre School<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\">. It<\/span>\u00a0was created after extensive\u00a0story-gathering through playback theatre with the communities engaged in The Freedom Theatre\u2019s annual <a href=\"http:\/\/freedombuspalestine.wordpress.com\/\">Freedom Ride<\/a>. The play includes\u00a0stories from Jenin refugee camp and city, Fasayel, Dheisheh\u00a0refugee camp, Mufaqara and Gaza.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a sarcastic, comic and\u00a0tragic style, the actors create the space, characters and even the emotional spaces they live in, in a virtuoso play with their bodies in a very small stage \u2013 \u201cas small as Palestine\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Return to Palestine<\/em> is performed in\u00a0Palestine and in Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan during the spring.\u00a0When performed\u00a0outside of Palestine, the play is accompanied by a small workshop, \u2018101 Palestine\u2019, in which the actors gather information from the audience and break them down into myths and facts and share their personal stories, or stories heard during their research, to share more information about life under occupation in Palestine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/return-to-palestine\/\">Read more about the play<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/news\/the-freedom-theatre-and-ashtar-theatre-bring-interactive-theatre-to-the-streets\/\">Read more about upcoming performances of Return to Palestine<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Return to Palestine\u00a0centres around\u00a0Jad, a Palestinian born in America, who\u00a0goes to Palestine for the first time in his life.
