{"id":54020,"date":"2017-09-05T08:31:43","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T05:31:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/?p=54020"},"modified":"2017-09-05T08:31:43","modified_gmt":"2017-09-05T05:31:43","slug":"teacher-training-study-visit-to-sweden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/ar\/2017\/09\/teacher-training-study-visit-to-sweden\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher-training study visit to Sweden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Freedom Theatre&#8217;s training program in early childhood education relocated to Sweden, for a two-week intensive study visit to some of Stockholm&#8217;s most progressive preschools and leisure activities for children. Eight participants engaged in an intensive <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">process of mutual learning and exchange of experiences between Palestinian and Swedish pedagogues. T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he Palestinian\u00a0participants did their utmost to gain much as possible from this experience\u00a0and were active and positive, despite the sometimes quite challenging aspects of being in such a different environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study visit encompassed both visits and workshops,\u00a0with the main purpose of investigating how adults\u00a0can bring magic, imagination and creativity into play and learning. One workshop took place outdoors, over the course of two days, with the participants exploring learning in nature, using the materials, shapes and colours of the forest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The preschools and activity centres for children visited were located in many different parts\u00a0of Stockholm<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In some areas,\u00a0marginalised both financially and socially, pedagogues struggled to create a positive\u00a0learning environment for children and the Palestinian pedagogues could identify\u00a0some\u00a0of the same challenges that they\u00a0face\u00a0in Jenin.\u00a0This opened the Palestinian participants&#8217; eyes to the differences in living conditions and opportunities that exist in a city like Stockholm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The teachers also visited museums and cultural centres offering activities for children, among them Skansen, Junibacken and Kulturhuset, as well as S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn University College where they got an introduction to\u00a0the teacher-training program, and Dar al Muna publishing company that translates Swedish children&#8217;s literature to Arabic. The Red Cross gave a full-day course of First Aid for children, which was very important because it is not offered to pedagogues in Palestine. A Palestinian cultural event was also included, as well as visits to The Palestinian Solidarity Association of Sweden and the Friends of The Freedom Theatre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In summary, we are very pleased with the study visit and thank the Swedish Institute Creative Force as well as all the involved Swedish partners for this unique opportunity!<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Freedom Theatre&#8217;s training program in early childhood education relocated to Sweden, for a two-week intensive study visit to some of Stockholm&#8217;s most progressive preschools and leisure activities for children.
