The Freedom Theatre&#8217;s production will mark<i>\u00a0<\/i>the first time that Pippi Lonstocking is\u00a0presented in Palestine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The Pippi Longstocking series is the most well-known work of Astrid Lindgren. It was published between the years 1945-1971 and translated into\u00a0more than 40 languages. The books tell an amusing story about a girl named Pippi who lives alone in a colourful house\u00a0with a pet monkey and a horse. She is as unconventional as she is physically strong and doesn&#8217;t follow any rules but her own.\u00a0Pippi is\u00a0a heroic character for many children, especially since she always defends those who need it the most, and has become a\u00a0symbol of independence, courage, playfulness and freedom.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Jinan<\/em> is a co-production with Swedish theatre Folkteatern in Gothenburg and will be directed by Lars-Eric Brossner, with Hassan Taha from Palestine as dramaturg. Auditions\u00a0have been held, the script created and rehearsals are set to start in January, before the play opens at The Freedom Theatre in February. We hope to take <em>Jinan<\/em> on the road and perform all over Palestine as well as internationally.\u00a0To us,\u00a0<em>Jinan<\/em>\u00a0embodies the concept of cultural resistance and we\u00a0very much look forward\u00a0to presenting the play to audiences in Palestine and abroad!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>&#8220;I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do it.&#8221;<\/em> Pippi Longstocking<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54246 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/thefreedomtheatre.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Pippi-Longstocking-II.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"377\" height=\"343\" \/><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are excited to announce that we will present\u00a0a new play, Jinan\u00a0at The Freedom Theatre in February 2018!
