Like other Palestinian villages in the area, Battir&#8217;s ancient heritage and ecosystem is currently threatened by Israel&#8217;s planned construction of the Apartheid Wall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Battir is home to a unique ecosystem and terrace agriculture irrigated through a system of aqueducts dating from Roman times. UNESCO is currently providing technical expertise to the Palestinian Authority in order to submit an application for World Heritage Status for Battir and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The full-day event this Friday will include guided walks through the agricultural terraces, a Playback Theatre performance, and a community discussion about the ongoing threats faced by the villages in the area.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Free transportation by private bus from Ramallah to Battir and back will be provided, and there will be an option for lunch (30 NIS) in Battir.
