The workshop is for anyone who is curious about exploring and connecting to the power of their voice. The workshop will be based on Linklater\u2019s method, Alexander technique, Tai Chi, and Roy Hart work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">**************************<wbr><\/wbr>**************************<wbr><\/wbr>****<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>From Story to Action: Devising and performing autobiographical accounts<\/strong><br \/>\nFacilitator: Sayda Trujillo<br \/>\nDates: 30 November \u2013 3 December 2013 (4 days)<br \/>\nTimes: 9:30am \u2013 4pm each day<br \/>\nLevel: Level I<br \/>\nCost: 300 LE<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this workshop each person will create a 6-10-minute piece of theatre. This workshop will take participants through the experience of writing\/creating a piece of theatre, using the body and voice to shape a story. The place of departure will be personal stories. We will work with sound, image, and objects to develop character and story. We will explore ways of shaping and framing a short solo performance through the merging of body and text. Specific theater techniques that we will use in this workshop include viewpoints, clown, and melodrama. The workshop will end with an informal presentation of student pieces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Performing artists, educators, writers and community workers are welcome to join this workshop. We recommend that all participants join the preceding Voice and Movement training offered from November 27th \u2013 29th at Studio Emad Eddin by Sayda Trujillo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">**************************<wbr><\/wbr>**************************<wbr><\/wbr>****<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Foundations of Playback Theatre<\/strong><br \/>\nFacilitators: Ben Rivers and Sayda Trujillo<br \/>\nDates: 6 &#8211; 10 December 2013 (5 days)<br \/>\nTimes: 9:30am \u2013 4pm each day<br \/>\nLevel: Level I<br \/>\nCost: 300 LE<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this 5-day intensive, participants will learn and practice the basic elements of Playback Theatre. In an environment of playfulness, spontaneity and empathic attunement, each student will have a chance to experience the roles of Teller, Conductor, Musician and Actor. The philosophy and application of Playback Theatre for community building, cultural activism and trauma response will also be explored.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Playback Theatre is an interactive theatre approach used in over 60 countries as a tool for community building, trauma response and conflict transformation. In a Playback event, audience members share personal stories, and watch as a team of actors and musicians transform these accounts into improvised theatre pieces, building a network of related stories whose individual validity is respected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This workshop is accredited through The Freedom Theatre\u2019s Playback Program &#8211; an affiliate of the New York-based Centre for Playback Theatre. In particular we will develop our ability to improvise full stories in a way that combines artistry with empathy and truthfulness on stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This workshop is open only for people who have completed a foundational course in Playback Theatre.<br \/>\nThis workshop is accredited through The Freedom Theatre\u2019s Playback Program &#8211; an affiliate of the New York-based Centre for Playback Theatre. Workshop hours can be counted towards an internationally recognized Diploma in Playback Theatre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">**************************<wbr><\/wbr>**************************<wbr><\/wbr>****<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Introduction to Psychodrama and the Therapeutic Spiral Model\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nFacilitator: Ben Rivers<br \/>\nDates: 16 &#8211; 19 December 2013 (4 days)<br \/>\nTimes: 9:30am \u2013 4pm each day<br \/>\nLevel: Level I<br \/>\nCost: 300 LE<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Participants in this 4-day intensive will experience the therapeutic and empowering aspects of Psychodrama and the Therapeutic Spiral Model. The workshop will also provide opportunities to learn and practice basic Psychodramatic tools.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Psychodrama utilizes drama methods for psychotherapeutic purposes. Through the use of voice, movement, stories, dreams, role-play and improvisation, psychodrama enables safe expression of emotion, whilst inviting fresh perspectives and insights to emerge. The Therapeutic Spiral Model (TSM) is a specific form of Psychodrama used for building strengths and addressing individual and collective trauma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hours gained through this workshop are accredited through the Virginia-based Therapeutic Spiral Institute and can be counted towards an International Certification in Trauma Therapy using the Therapeutic Spiral Model\u2122.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">**************************<wbr><\/wbr>**************************<wbr><\/wbr>****<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Life in the Face of Adversity: Psychodrama and<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>the Therapeutic Spiral Model\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nFacilitator: Ben Rivers<br \/>\nDates: 21 &#8211; 24 December 2013 (4 days)<br \/>\nTimes: 9:30am \u2013 4pm each day<br \/>\nLevel: Level II<br \/>\nCost: 300 LE<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During this 4-day intensive we will connect and explore those resources that help us to face past and current hardship and adversity. The workshop will utilize Psychodrama, the Therapeutic Spiral Model, Dream Work and Expressive Arts Therapy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hours gained through this workshop are accredited through the Virginia-based Therapeutic Spiral Institute and can be counted towards an International Certification in Trauma Therapy using the Therapeutic Spiral Model\u2122.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This workshop is open only for people who have completed introductory training in Psychodrama, Drama Therapy or the Therapeutic Spiral Model.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">**************************<wbr><\/wbr>**************************<wbr><\/wbr>****<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Facilitator Bios<\/strong><br \/>\nSayda Trujillo is an actress, and theatre-maker\/educator specializing in voice and movement, as well as devising original physical theatre performances. Her performance and teaching experience abroad includes work in Guatemala, Ecuador, Singapore, Spain, Germany, Colombia, UK and most recently in Palestine with The Freedom Theatre. Her three solo shows BANANA LEAVES, SWEET SOUP, and I WAS RAISED MEXICAN have been presented nationally and internationally at theater houses including La Mama ETC, RedCAT, and NYTW. Since 2005 Sayda has volunteered for Clowns Without Borders performing for thousands of children in Latin America. Sayda teaches Acting, Tai Chi Chuan, Contact Improvisation, Voice and Solo Performance. Ms. Trujillo holds a BFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts; a post-graduate certificate in Physical Theatre from the Dell\u2019 Arte International School of Physical Theatre; and a masters in Voice Studies from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London where the training encompassed a multiplicity of workshops in Vocal Anatomy, Accents, Vocal Pedagogy, Practice as Research, culminating in a Master\u2019s Thesis: Latino\/a Voices: Reconsidering the \u2018Natural,\u2019 \u2018Familiar\u2019 and \u2018Cultural\u2019 in Freeing Vocal Expression. The primary vocal method studied was Linklater\u2019s Freeing the Natural Voice. Additional workshops with lead voice practitioners include: Kristin Linklater, Catherine Fitzmaurice, Cicely Berry, Barbara Houseman, Christina Shewell, Margaret Pikes, Ros Steen and Penny Dyer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ben Rivers is a British-Australian educator and Registered Drama Therapist specializing in the use of Psychodrama and Playback Theatre for trauma response and sociopolitical change. Over the past 13 years he has worked extensively with individuals, families and communities impacted by structural oppression, political violence and collective trauma. Ben is a Certified Trainer in the Therapeutic Spiral Model (TSM) and also provides internationally accredited training in Playback Theatre. Ben has taught and practiced in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and North America. He currently works at The Freedom Theatre in Jenin Refugee Camp where he founded the Freedom Bus initiative (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freedombus.ps&amp;h=aAQE4y2Ag&amp;enc=AZMHqiX8D6eUSqTqaGOgAGfUs_kG5dAJVcHI6JqpvnZNEAolAbm8En44BrffsiNOX7A&amp;s=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">www.freedombus.ps<\/a>). Ben holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, USA.
