Join us this Friday, November 30th, for a solidarity visit to the village of Battir. Like other Palestinian villages in the area, Battir’s ancient heritage and ecosystem is currently threatened by Israel’s planned construction of the Apartheid Wall.

Battir is home to a unique ecosystem and terrace agriculture irrigated through a system of aqueducts dating from Roman times. UNESCO is currently providing technical expertise to the Palestinian Authority in order to submit an application for World Heritage Status for Battir and the surrounding area.

The full-day event this Friday will include guided walks through the agricultural terraces, a Playback Theatre performance, and a community discussion about the ongoing threats faced by the villages in the area.
Free transportation by private bus from Ramallah to Battir and back will be provided, and there will be an option for lunch (30 NIS) in Battir. The bus will leave from Al Bireh Main Street, in front of the Islamic Bank building, at 9:00 am.
