SOUTH HEBRON HILLS SOLIDARITY STAY: OCTOBER 19-23.
Join the people of South Hebron Hills in their daily struggle against military occupation and settler colonialism
From October 19th – 23rd, you are invited to take part in olive harvesting, protective presence activity, informational talks, group discussions and evening cultural events. Through Playback Theatre, The Freedom Theatre’s Freedom Bus troupe will enact accounts from local residents about life and resistance under Israeli apartheid. Activities will occur in the villages of At-Tuwani, Susiya, Tuba and Al Mufaqarah.
Accommodation and meals in At-Tuwani will be provided. 30 NIS per day is requested in order to cover meal costs.
THE SOUTH HEBRON HILLS are located in Area C of the occupied West Bank, placing the whole region under complete Israeli civil and military control. Since the 1970’s, firing zones, closed military areas and illegal Israeli settlements, have led to the displacement of entire communities. Others live under the constant threat of forced expulsion. In addition, Palestinian residents face violent harassment from settlers, home demolitions and restricted access to farming land. Many communities lack paved roads, electricity, telephone lines, running-water, or a sewage system. Infrastructure built to meet these needs is frequently demolished under orders issued by the Israeli Civil Administration. Despite these hardships, the indigenous people of this area remain steadfast in their ongoing resistance to Israel’s at ethnic cleansing policies. More info: Al Mufaqarah R-Exist
