On the 20th of March at approximately 19:00 Mussadaq Jarrar, the former financial director of The Freedom Theatre (from 2007 until 2012), was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces at a flying checkpoint near the Arrabi junction outside Jenin. Mussadaq was travelling in a shared taxi between Ramallah and Jenin.

Mussadaq is currently working as the financial director of a company in Ramallah. He is from Jenin and was coming back over the weekend to spend time with his relatives.

It appears that the flying checkpoint was especially intended to arrest Mussadaq since it was dismantled immediately after he was taken away by the Israeli army.

Today Smadar Ben-Natan, Mussadaq’s lawyer, was able to meet with him. She learnt that he has been interrogated about the murder of The Freedom Theatre’s former General Director and co-founder, Juliano Mer-Khamis, which happened almost three years ago in April 2011. According to the lawyer Mussadaq seemed to be in good health and spirit.

The Freedom Theatre is happy to share any information that may lead to the discovery of Juliano’s murderer/s but reiterates its disapproval of the conduct of the Israeli army in relation to the murder investigation. Most of the staff and affiliates of The Freedom Theatre have been arrested, interrogated and intimidated, some for long periods of time and with means that borders on torture. The Israeli army have also damaged The Freedom Theatre’s facilities.

Update: On April 3rd, Mussadaq Jarrar was released.
