The Freedom Theatre Reopens with “The Sneeze” – A Bold Celebration of Palestinian Theatre and Global Storytelling

The Freedom Theatre proudly announces the grand inauguration of its newly reconstructed theatre space in Jenin Refugee Camp, Palestine, with a vibrant theatrical evening: “The Sneeze”. This innovative production brings to life three short comedies by the legendary Russian playwright Anton ChekhovThe Bear, The Proposal, and The Sneeze – translated and performed with a unique Palestinian perspective.

Directed and scenically designed by Amir Nizar Zuabi, with costumes by Ashraf Hanna, the production features the remarkable talents of Ali Suleiman, Ruba Blal, and Amer Hlehel, performed under the dynamic ensemble ShiberHur.

A cornerstone of Palestinian cultural resilience, The Freedom Theatre has long been a beacon of artistic resistance, cultivating generations of performers and creating theatre that speaks to both local communities in the occupied territories and audiences around the world. Through this production, Chekhov’s timeless wit intersects with Palestinian creativity, humor, and lived experience, offering a dialogue between cultures and a stage for global connection.
