Jenin, Palestine – Summer 2009 – For the very first time in its history, The Freedom Theatre (TFT) proudly presents its inaugural Children & Youth Theatre Festival, transforming the theatre into a vibrant hub of creativity, imagination, and cultural exchange. Over the months of June and July, more than 30 dynamic performances will be staged, bringing together young audiences and artists from across Palestine.
The festival features acclaimed theatrical groups including Al Harah Theatre, Inad Theatre, Fringe Ensemble of Nazareth, Asseera Theatre, the Palestinian Circus School, and Sanabel Theatre, fostering a rich dialogue of youth voices, performance innovation, and cultural resilience.
Adding to this vibrant lineup, TFT proudly presents two of its own productions:
-
The Magic Flute – a youth adaptation of the classic tale, performed by TFT’s acclaimed acting ensembles.
-
Fragments of Palestine – an upcoming student production exploring the stories, memories, and aspirations of Palestinian children and youth.
“This festival is more than a celebration of theatre,” says TFT Artistic Director Nabil Al-Raee. “It is a declaration of hope, creativity, and resistance. We are empowering our children and youth to tell their own stories, in a place where expression itself is an act of courage.”
The Children & Youth Theatre Festival is made possible through the generous support of UNFPA and Friends of The Freedom Theatre, whose international backing has enabled TFT to establish a professional platform for emerging Palestinian artists.
