Teresa Carrar, the wife of a fisherman, tries but fails to keep her two sons from going off to war. Señora Carrar hands out the rifles she has hidden from the fascist forces, and together with her younger son she heads for the front.
This adaptation of German dramatist Bertolt Brecht’s play highlights the importance of culture as a tool for resistance and existence. The cast includes some of The Freedom Theatre Acting School graduates, “Juliano’s Children”, in addition to two actors from Nazareth and Ramallah. The play is a co-production between Juliano’s Children and The Freedom Theatre. It serves as an allegory to the relationship between the actors and their deceased teacher, friend and mentor – Juliano Mer Khamis.
