The Ride for Water Justice! ركب العدالة للحصول على المياه headed to the Jordan Valley community of Al Hadadiya on Friday, Nov 16th.

The Israeli army threatened to stop the Freedom Bus from joining the people of Al Hadidiya in the solidarity event that was due to take place on land they had farmed for generations. The army claimed that necessary permission from the nearby Israeli colony of Ro’i had not been granted. The issue was eventually resolved and the event could take place as planned.

A joint initiative between the Freedom Theatre, Thirsting for Water Justice and Juzoor, the Ride for Water Justice brings together Palestinian and international activists, students, journalists, artists and the wider public to discuss water apartheid and the broader struggle for freedom and justice in occupied Palestine through Playback Theatre performances, community discussions and guided tours.….

The Freedom Bus uses Playback Theatre for community building, trauma response and cultural activism. In a Playback event, audience members share thoughts, feelings, memories and autobiographical accounts, and watch as a team of actors and musicians transform these experiences into improvised theatre pieces.

Playback Theatre responds to the fundamental human need to share one’s story and have it heard, acknowledged and honored. The use of Playback also builds solidarity through the communal sharing of stories, knowledge and experiences.
