What a day! We are at a loss for words here at The Freedom Theatre. Magic was created, on the most important day of the year for us.

The memorial and celebration of cultural resistance started off with a street theatre piece performed by our theatre school students, while the photography students showcased their latest exhibition, Stories, of an elderly generation of Palestinian refugees, documenting a moment in their lives, journeys, past and present. Then The Siege premiered to an absolutely packed house, over 180 audience members who were captivated throughout the 1hr 40 min play – laughing, crying and cheering – and who once the performance was over gave the cast a standing ovation that would not stop. Thanks to everyone who shared this day with us!

The Siege will continue to be performed at The Freedom Theatre as well as at Al Kasaba Theatre in Ramallah and Dar Annadwa in Bethlehem, before it goes on The Freedom Theatre’s first-ever tour of Britain. Performance dates & details for the West Bank here and UK here.
