The Freedom Theatre’s new cinema club with monthly screenings will be launched on January 24, with a screening of ‘Roshmia’ by Salim Abu Jabal.

‘Roshmia’ centres around Yousef Hassan and his family who live in a shack in Roshmia valley since 1956 when they were displaced from Wadi Alsaleeb in downtown Haifa. Above the valley, Jewish neighbours live in new settlements. When Haifa municipality decides to open a new road through the valley, Yousef’s shack has to be demolished. The film depicts the elderly Palestinian couple’s final standoff against Israeli authorities.
