Coronavirus Update: The Freedom Theatre Response

Following the recent Coronavirus outbreak, the President of Palestine announced a state of emergency for 30 days starting March 5, 2020, which is likely to be extended in the coming weeks and possibly months.

Like many places around the world, the West Bank is gradually adjusting to the realities of the pandemic. Cities are cordoned off, all events have been cancelled, cafes are closed, and the streets have become eerily quiet. People have been advised to avoid public transport and limit their travel to essential needs only.

As a result, the Freedom Ride will be postponed. We hope to reschedule it for Autumn 2020, though it may be delayed until 2021. Additionally, the Festival of Cultural Resistance will move online, and we will share excerpts of the scheduled performances through our social media channels. We are actively arranging this and will update you soon with further details.

We hope you are safe and well. Stay home, stay healthy, and continue to resist with us.

With peace and resistance from Jenin Camp,
The Freedom Theatre
