The United Nations Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20 each year to promote awareness and solidarity among children worldwide, and to inform children of their rights according to the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This year, the Freedom Theatre will honour Universal Children’s Day by organising a workshop for children in Jenin Refugee Camp. Fidaa Ataya, our wonderful storyteller who sprinkles magic among the children she meets, will lead the workshop which is focused on dreams. The participants will write down their dreams on a piece of paper that will be attached to a lantern. Then the lanterns will be lit and sent up into the sky, carrying with them the dreams of the young generation of Jenin Refugee Camp.
