On Monday 14 July 2008 at 16.30, Palestinian rap group DAM gives a concert at The Freedom Theatre in Jenin Refugee Camp. The first Palestinian rap group, DAM was set up in the late 90s and today forms one of the leading forces on the newly emerging Palestinian rap scene.
The DAM performance is preceded by a screening of “Slingshot Hip Hop”, the first feature-length documentary about the Palestinian hip hop movement. At the cutting edge of this emerging Middle Eastern youth culture, it is a fresh, complex and energising window into contemporary life in Palestine and Israel, and into one of the many identities that Arabs are exploring today.
